- Ric is a military veteran. He is a dependable and talented illustrator who began drawing and painting at an early age. His talent was first rewarded during a regional high school art show where his pen & ink, “Penn-Central”, was awarded best-of-show from over 30 other first-place entries.
- During his military service he entered an international competition to design the Division patch for the US Air Force Commissary Service. His cornucopia design was awarded second place. Later that year while attending Del State University he won first-place in a competition to design a logo for the Dover Delaware bicentennial celebration. Ric’s design, depicting Caesar Rodney on horseback, is very similar to the design minted on the Delaware quarter.
- Ric continued to take advantage of educational opportunities in the military, studying art in Okinawa, Japan, and upon his honorable discharge in 1983, was accepted at the Art Academy of Cincinnati.
- Now retired, Ric is looking forward to further developing his talent on a full-time basis. He enjoys the comradery of other artists, being inspired, and sharing his passion of art. View his newest portfolio items online at www.ricforney.com
